Reflecting on the situation, his former teammate Bam Adebayo shared his thoughts to the media on Butler’s departure. He expressed gratitude for their time together in Miami, emphasizing the team’s accomplishments during Butler’s tenure.
"Obviously it ended not the way everybody expected it to, but for the five years, man, we did a lot of things and overachieved and we did some things people thought we couldn’t do. So, obviously we’re all grateful for that," Adebayo talked about Butler's time in Miami.
During their five seasons together, Butler and the Heat reached the NBA Finals twice, though they fell short both times. In 2023, Miami made history by becoming only the second team ever to reach the Finals as an eighth seed, a feat previously achieved by the New York Knicks in 1999.
Individually, Butler left a significant mark on the franchise. In 316 games with the Heat, he averaged 21.0 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 5.7 assists, earning two NBA All-Star selections during his tenure.
