LaMelo Ball exited the Hornets' game against the Lakers after suffering an ankle injury in the first half, raising concerns about his ongoing injury struggles.
LaMelo Ball’s season took another concerning turn on Monday night as the Charlotte Hornets star guard was forced to leave the game against the Los Angeles Lakers with an apparent ankle injury. Ball, who has battled injuries throughout his career, suffered the setback in the first half when he landed awkwardly on Jarred Vanderbilt’s foot after attempting a three-pointer.
He immediately signaled for help and was taken out of the game, later being ruled out for the remainder of the contest.
Before his early exit, Ball had played just nine minutes, contributing seven points, one assist, and one steal.
The 22-year-old has been putting up All-Star-caliber numbers this season, averaging 28.9 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 7.5 assists per game. However, injuries have continued to limit his availability, raising concerns about his long-term durability.
For Charlotte, losing Ball for any extended period would be a major blow. He has been the team's offensive engine, and with the Hornets already struggling in the standings, his absence could make things even more difficult.
The team will now await further medical evaluations to determine the severity of the injury and whether Ball will miss additional time.
