The decision comes as the Kings struggle in his third season as head coach, having lost five consecutive home games and 12 of the last 17 matches. Also, they have lost an NBA-high 13 clutch-time games this season.
The Kings currently sit 12th in the Western Conference with a 13-18 record, a sharp decline from their success in recent seasons.
Brown was named head coach of the Kings on May 9, 2022. In his first season, he led the team to a 48–34 record and their first playoff appearance since 2006.
His efforts earned him the 2023 NBA Coach of the Year award, making history as the first coach to receive the honor unanimously.
Before his time with the Kings, Brown served as head coach for the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Los Angeles Lakers.
