Kleber, 32, had previously represented Germany in major international tournaments, including the 2019 FIBA World Cup, the 2019 World Cup Qualifiers, and the 2014 EuroBasket.
However, following criticism from German national team captain Dennis Schroder for opting out of the 2022 EuroBasket, Kleber has been absent from the squad for subsequent competitions.
"The situation was what it was. That's why I had to come to terms with it," Kleber told Augsburger Allgemeine. "I watched the games as a fan, of course, because it is always positive for German basketball when the national team is successful."
Although the recent appointment of Spanish coach Alex Mumbru as head coach of the national team could have been seen as an opportunity for Kleber to reconnect, the 32-year-old made it clear that his decision to distance himself from the team remains firm.
"I know him but haven't spoken to him yet," he explained. "The national team is definitely over for me. So, there will be no return."
This season, Kleber averages 2.2 points and 2.8 rebounds.
