Zion Williamson has parted ways with his agency, the Creative Artists Agency (CAA). 15 days have to pass until he can sign with a new agency.
Amidst troubles with a lingering injury, Zion Williamson has fired the agency that represents him, the Creative Artists Agency( CAA).
According to Joe Vardon and Sam Amick from The Athletic, Williamson's associates confirmed that the New Orleans Pelicans star big man has parted ways with CAA.
CAA works with a number of high-profile NBA players, including Devin Booker, Jalen Brunson, Paul George, Tyrese Haliburton, Donovan Mitchell, Chris Paul, and Karl-Anthony Towns, among others.
15 days have to pass before Williamson can sign with another agency, Vardon and Amick note.
In 2022, Williamson signed a 5-year contract extension with the Pelicans, which included multiple clauses for the money to become guaranteed due to him playing only 29 games in the 2022-23 NBA season.
Now, Williamson has to meet weight and body fat percentage criteria and pass six weigh-in checkpoints during the season for 20% of the money to become guaranteed for the 2025-26 season. Another 40% becomes guaranteed if he plays in at least 41 games, and another 20% if he plays in at least 51 games, Mike Vortunov from The Athletic previously reported.
The ultimate 20% becomes guaranteed if he plays in at least 61 games, but the Pelicans star is set to miss this mark after being sidelined in 11 games already out of 17.
Williamson has to hit the same criteria for the money to become guaranteed in the 2026-27 and 2027-28 seasons, but the Pelicans have the ability to cut him after this season without any financial consequences.
