Luka Doncic emphasized that the Dallas Mavericks “gotta work on closing out games” better.
The Dallas Mavericks lost to the Golden State Warriors, 117-120, dropping their third straight game.
They had opportunities down the stretch but failed to execute on offense.
After the Warriors’ loss, Dallas star Luka Doncic shared his thoughts on the Mavericks’ struggles in clutch situations.
“I think last year we were a very, very good clutch team,” Doncic said in a report by NBA reporter Grant Afseth.
“This year, not so good so far. We've lost two-straight by two or three points, so we just gotta work on closing out games.”
During their 3-game losing streak, the Mavericks have lost by a total of six points and are now 1-5 in clutch games this season.
Klay Thompson also had some comments about their late-game woes.

"We’ve had about four games this year that could have gone either way. This one stung, especially being up seven with under four minutes left. We’ll watch the film and get better," said Thompson.
"But I’m proud of how this team keeps fighting. We’re still getting to know each other, and I keep telling the guys it’s better to go through this stuff early in the season than around Game 60. I know we have a chance to be great; we just have to stay focused."
