Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul have found a replacement for the injured Scottie Wilbekin, who suffered a torn ACL. The Turkish team has officially announced the signing of American point guard Skylar Mays for one season.
On October 15, BasketNews' Donatas Urbonas reported that the team was close to finalizing a deal with Mays.
At 27 years old, Mays brings valuable experience from four NBA seasons, having played with the Atlanta Hawks (2020-22), Portland Trail Blazers (2023-24), and Los Angeles Lakers (2024). Mays was selected with the 50th pick in the 2020 NBA Draft.
Over his career, he appeared in 105 NBA games (16 as a starter), averaging 4.3 points, 1.2 rebounds, and 1.7 assists in 10.6 minutes per game, while shooting 44.5% from the field and 34.5% from beyond the arc.
Last season, he played a key role with Portland, contributing 9.3 points, 2.2 rebounds, and 5.5 assists in 22.8 minutes per game over 11 games in November.
Mays will make his overseas debut in Turkey.
