Jamal Murray shared that it is “cool” having Russell Westbrook as a teammate on the Denver Nuggets.
The Denver Nuggets are seeking to regain NBA glory with the help of a veteran.
Russell Westbrook, who signed with the Nuggets on a minimum deal, is hoping to improve the Nuggets on and off the court.
Star guard Jamal Murray was open about idolizing Westbrook growing up, sharing insights on what it’s like having him now on the same team.
“I grew up watching him. We all did, really. It's cool to see him up close and in person,” Murray said in an interview posted by AltitudeTV’s Katy Winge.
“To look at Russ is like, ‘Oh, damn. That's Russ.’ Every time he's in the gym, he kind of lifts not just me but everybody's spirit and awareness. That’s one thing I appreciate about having him on the floor. We haven’t played much together, but when he’s out there, he makes a positive impact.”

More than his all-around play, Westbrook’s leadership will be valuable for the Nuggets in the locker room.
Last season, Westbrook averaged 11.1 points on 45% shooting, 5.0 rebounds, and 4.5 assists per game for the LA Clippers.
