Dallas Mavericks guard Dante Exum has sustained a right wrist injury that may require surgery, according to The Athletic.
The Mavericks are currently exploring treatment options, but there is a possibility that Exum will undergo surgery.
Exum rejoined the NBA last season after spending two years playing in Europe for FC Barcelona and Partizan Mozzart Bet Belgrade.
His time in Europe helped revitalize his career, but upon his return to the Mavericks, Exum played a more limited role, primarily coming off the bench.
In the 2023-24 NBA season, Exum averaged 7.8 points, 2.9 assists, and 2.7 rebounds across 55 games, contributing depth to the Mavericks’ guard rotation.
If surgery is required, Exum could miss a significant portion of the season, which would leave the team with fewer options in their backcourt.
