Frederic Fauthoux has been appointed as the new head coach of the French national basketball team, according to the official announcement from the French Basketball Federation.

He takes over from Vincent Collet, who stepped down after 15 years at the helm, having most recently led France to a silver medal at the Paris Olympics.

Fauthoux will guide the national team through the next Olympic cycle, starting with the FIBA EuroBasket 2025 European Qualifiers in November. His responsibilities will also include FIBA EuroBasket 2025, FIBA World Cup 2027 Qualifiers, the World Cup itself, and ultimately the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics.

The 51-year-old coach is currently at the helm of JL Bourg, who finished as the EuroCup runner-up last season.

Fauthoux recently signed a three-year extension with Bourg, which includes a EuroLeague exit clause effective in the summer of 2025. He joined the club in 2022.

Prior to this, LDCL ASVEL Villeurbanne had shown interest in Fauthoux, who worked as an assistant coach there from 2020 to 2022.
