In February 2002, James was the biggest star of high school basketball, attracting thousands to each of his games. During that month, the renowned journal Sports Illustrated did a cover shoot with the up-and-coming athlete.
James wore his #23 St. Vincent-St. Mary Fighting Irish jersey to the photo shoot. He wore the jersey that night in the game against the Archbishop Hoban Knights as well.
