An uncommon story emerged from Croatia, and like in recent years, there has been little great news related to basketball in a former European powerhouse.

Cibona Zagreb managed to escape liquidation again and will participate in the ABA League next season, but that's not the main topic this time.

According to Sportske Novosti, A foreign investment group that did not participate in the process of clearing €600,000 debt to the Croatian Basketball Federation insisted on bringing Chris Thomas as their new head coach, claiming they would pay his salary if necessary.

The problem is that he is ineligible to coach in the Croatian League due to the rules of the competition, which state that a foreign coach can't be registered if he has not won a single trophy in his career.

Therefore, Barisa Krasic will be a coach in the domestic competition, which is played simultaneously with the ABA League, meaning Cibona players will have two different coaches leading them every week.

The 44-year-old Thomas started his coaching career at Dayton. His first connections with Balkan were in 2013 when he was an assistant in Slovenia NT. He then had head coach jobs in Slovenia, Puerto Rico, and Malaysia.
