According to Bill Simmons, Bezos is being mentioned in league circles as a possibly serious candidate to purchase the Celtics.
The asking price for the franchise is mentioned to be around $6 billion, around $2 billion more than Matt Ishbia paid for the Phoenix Suns.
Celtics current owner, H. Irving Grousbeck, bought the franchise during the 2002-03 season for then-record $360 million. The franchise is now reportedly worth over $5 billion.
Bezos is the founder and owner of Amazon, the largest retailer in the world. Bezos' net worth is estimated to be around a whopping $195 billion.
The multi-billionaire was previously interested in buying the NFL's Washington Commanders. He's been mentioned as one of the suitors to buy the Seattle Seahawks as well after the franchise's owner, Paul Allen, passed away in 2018.
