Germany secured their second victory at the Paris 2024 Olympics with a comfortable 86-73 win over Brazil and made sure to be in the tournament's quarterfinals on Tuesday night.

The reigning world champions built their lead in the second half, holding Brazil to 33 points over 20 minutes.

Team captain Dennis Schroder was the brightest player on the court, finishing with 20 points (3/4 2PT, 4/9 3PT, 2/2 FT), 3 rebounds, and 6 assists in almost 32 minutes. Isaac Bonga added 15 points.

Orlando Magic star Franz Wagner dropped 17 points but struggled with his three-point shooting, missing all six attempts.

For Brazil, Yago dos Santos led the way with 18 points, 4 rebounds, and 8 assists.

However, it has been a challenging tournament for Bruno Caboclo so far. After averaging 17.8 points and 7.0 rebounds in the Olympic Qualifiers in Latvia, he failed to score in 11 minutes against France and fouled out in the third quarter against Germany.

Germany kicked off their Paris 2024 campaign with a strong 97-77 win over Japan, where Franz Wagner led with a game-high 22 points, and Schroder added 13 points and 12 assists.

Brazil, however, struggled in their opening game against host nation France, losing 66-78.

Germany will face France for the top spot in Group B on Friday. Meanwhile, Brazil and Japan will battle for their first win and a chance to secure a quarterfinal spot as one of the two best third-place teams from the three groups.
