Utah's Kris Dunn was traded to the Clippers in exchange for Russell Westbrook and cash. Westbrook is expected to clear waivers and sign with the Denver Nuggets.
Speculations surrounded Russell Westbrook's future with the Los Angeles Clippers. The club has ultimately decided to trade the player away.
According to Adrian Wojnarowski from ESPN, the Clippers are trading the former NBA MVP to the Utah Jazz.
The Clippers will receive Kris Dunn in a sign-and-trade agreement. In exchange, the Jazz get a second-round pick swap and cash. Chris Haynes from Bleacher Reports notes that Dunn and Clippers reached a 3-year $17 million agreement.
Westbrook is expected to reach a contract buyout agreement with the Jazz.
The 35-year-old is supposed to clear waivers and become a free agent, Wojnarowski adds. As previously reported, the Denver Nuggets are considered the frontrunners to sign the veteran point guard.
In his 16th season in the NBA last year, Westbrook averaged 11.1 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 4.5 assists in 22.5 minutes per game.
