According to Shams Charania from The Athletic, Smart has suffered a severe right ring finger injury. The 29-year-old will be sidelined for approximately six weeks, the renowned journalist notes.
Smart noticed his finger being dislocated after hitting a three in the third quarter against the Dallas Mavericks on Tuesday night. The player immediately went to seek help from the medical personnel and did not return to the game.
It is the second long-term injury for Smart this season. Previously, Smart was sidelined for five weeks with a left ankle injury.
Earlier this month, the Grizzlies lost their superstar Ja Morant to a season-ending shoulder injury.
