Georgios Papagiannis informed Panathinaikos that he will accept an offer from Fenerbahce.
Georgios Papagiannis will become the latest Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul newcomer.
Giorgos Zakkas from SDNA reports that the 26-year-old Papagiannis informed Panathinaikos Athens about his intention to accept an offer from Fenerbahce. The news about the deal, however, was first reported by Live Sport's Sotiris Vetakis.
Last season, Papagiannis averaged 8.5 points, 5.7 rebounds, 1.2 blocks, and 11.4 PIR per game over 33 EuroLeague appearances for Panathinaikos.
He had an even more impressive campaign in 2021-22 when he averaged 9.9 points, 7.9 rebounds, 1.7 blocks, and 16.7 PIR per game in 30 appearances.
In the 2021-22 season, he was named into All-EuroLeague Second Team despite the fact that Panathinaikos finished in 13th place (out of 15 since the Russian teams were removed from the competition due to a war in Ukraine).
Papagiannis also played in the NBA for two seasons, representing the Sacramento Kings and Portland Trail Blazers, before returning to Panathinaikos in 2018.
