Egbunu signed a one-year deal. He averaged 11.5 points, 7.6 rebounds, and 1.3 blocks on 63.1% shooting playing for Gaziantep in the Turkish League last season.
After several quiet weeks of free agency, LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne have announced their second new signing of the offseason.
The French club has signed 28-year-old Nigerian-born center John Egbunu to a one-year deal.
Egbunu last played for Gaziantep in Turkey, averaging 11.5 points, 7.6 rebounds, and 1.3 blocks on 63.1% shooting.
"John is a real paint protector, very active in defense, [and] has enormous physical qualities. He is very mobile, quick in help-defense, and he will be very complementary to Youss[oupha] and Joffrey in the 5 position," ASVEL's head coach TJ Parker told following the signing.
So far this offseason, ASVEL have signed Mbaye Ndiaye and Boris Dallo to the roster. The club also expects to have Joffrey Lauvergne fully healthy.
