Before, Priftis spent four years coaching UNICS Kazan from 2017 to 2021. He led UNICS to the EuroLeague by making the EuropCup final in 2021.

Priftis won the Greek Super Cup with Panathinaikos in 2021. He was the Greek league coach of the year in 2016 while representing Aris Thessaloniki.

It will be the first Turkish experience for Priftis.

Tofas finished 9th in the Turkish league this season and reached the FIBA Champions League quarterfinals.
