In Game 4 of the Lithuanian Basketball League finals, Rytas Vilnius defeated Lietkabelis Panevezys in a hard battle on the court. Coach Zibenas' side conquered the win through their defense in an exciting ending with the final score of 78-77 (19-22, 28-16, 7-20, 24-19). Rytas lead the series 3-1.
The next match will take place on Tuesday, 7th June in Vilnius.
Gediminas Orelik made a 3-pointer, Dovydas Giedraitis added a jumper, and Lietkabelis' lead grew to 7 points (76-69) with 1:47 left.
But Rytas responded with a quick 9-1 run, and after Arnas Butkevicius' dunk on a fast break grabbed a 1-point lead (78-77) for the visitors with 15 seconds left.
Lietkabelis had their last possession, but Dovydas Giedraitis and Djordje Gagic's shots were off the mark, and Rytas celebrated a dramatic road victory by 1 point.
Kenneth Smith was the top performer for Rytas, accumulating 18 points (4/6 2PT, 2/6 3PT, 4/4 FT), 8 assists, 5 rebounds, and 23 PIR.
On the opposing side, Gediminas Orelik (16 PIR) and Panagiotis Kalaitzakis (6 REB) scored 17 points each.
Rytas reached the double-digit lead at the beginning of the third quarter (52-41), but Lietkabelis responded immediately.
Gediminas Orelik, Panagiotis Kalaitzakis, and Vytenis Lipkevicius orchestrated a huge 15-0 run to retake the lead for visiting team (56-52) to finish the third quarter.
