VEF Riga announced the signing of the forward Quincy Ford last month, however, the 2.03 m American will not make his debut in Latvia. The reason for his departure is the refusal to get vaccinated from Covid.

"The player decided he didn’t want the vaccine,” VEF's president Gatis Jahovics said. "His decision made it impossible to participate in team practices. Traveling with the team and playing in games would be questionable. We agreed to part ways before even starting."

Ford represented Promitheas Patras last season. He averaged 2.9 points (8.3% 3PT), 2.8 rebounds, and 3.1 PIR over 12.7 minutes in the Greek Basket League.

VEF Riga will compete in the Basketball Champions League next season. Their season will kick off on October 5 with an away game against the Winners of Qualifying Tournament No. 2.
