American big man Jordan Mickey is getting closer to a deal with Russian team Zenit, sources tell BasketNews and Greek journalist Konstatinos Melagies of Gazzetta.gr. Mickey spent this past season with Khimki Moscow Region, averaging 15.6 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 1.1 steals per game in the Euroleague.

Mickey was one of the most coveted free agent bigs on the market. St Petersburg team now looks like a clear frontrunner to sign the former Boston Celtics center.

The team coached by Xavi Pascual has already strengthened its roster by acquiring Jordan Loyd, Conner Frankamp and Sergey Karasev. Zenit has also announced about contract extensions for the Lithuanian big man Arturas Gudaitis and the American forward Alex Poythress.
