DeMar DeRozan was involved in a heated altercation with a fan at a sushi restaurant, who was later taken away with an ambulance.
Sacramento Kings forward DeMar DeRozan was involved in a serious altercation with a fan at a sushi restaurant on Friday night.
According to eyewitnesses via TMZ, the incident began when a fan aggressively approached DeRozan and put a phone with a bright light directly in his face, apparently trying to provoke a reaction. DeRozan reportedly knocked the phone out of the man’s hand.
After telling the fan to back off and keep walking, the man demanded his phone back—further escalating the situation and angering the Kings star.
In a video of the incident, the fan can be seen on the ground, seemingly trying to retrieve his phone, while DeRozan appears to continue confronting him. The two were eventually separated by a woman in a sweatsuit.
Although the video cuts off there, the confrontation continued. TMZ reports that police responded to the scene around 10:30 PM at Yume Sushi in Calabasas and have launched an investigation.
An eyewitness also claims the fan, described as wearing shorts, was later seen entering an ambulance after sustaining injuries from the altercation, which caused glass and cutlery to scatter across nearby tables.
