Philadelphia 76ers star Joel Embiid will undergo tests on his knee early this week, at which point both parties will collaborate with specialists on the best route forward. He's questionable for the next game against the Chicago Bulls.
Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid keeps dealing with lingering knee problems, only appearing in 19 games this season.
Last game against the Brooklyn Nets, Joel Embiid got benched and didn't play in the fourth quarter. The 76ers ended up losing that game 103-105, Embiid didn't comment on why he got benched, but it might've been related to the injury as he was slow to get up late in the third quarter when he lost the ball and hit the court.
According to Shams Charania of ESPN, the team and Embiid are consulting doctors and considering alternative options, such as surgery, for his injured left knee.
Both sides have hoped for progress in Embiid's condition, but his determination to play and current treatments, including regular injections, have not led to any improvement.
Embiid is scheduled to undergo tests on his knee early this week, at which point both parties will collaborate with specialists on the best route forward, per ESPN.
After appearing in only 19 games this season, Embiid will most definitely miss more games as he's listed questionable for their next game against the Chicago Bulls, after experiencing swelling in his knee after Saturday's loss to the Nets.
Philadelphia 76ers are currently twelfth in the Eastern Conference with a 20-36 record. They could look to sit out Embiid for the rest of the season to treat his knee, as they own a top 6 protected pick in the next year's NBA Draft, meaning they won't receive that pick if they win enough games and get a 7th or higher pick in the lottery.
