Forward Javonte Green reached a buyout agreement with the New Orleans Pelicans and intends to sign with the Cleveland Cavaliers upon clearing waivers.
Former New Orleans Pelicans forward Javonte Green plans to sign with the Cleveland Cavaliers after reaching a buyout agreement with the Pelicans, according to Shams Charania of ESPN.
The Cavaliers are bolstering their forward depth following the trade of wings Caris LeVert and Georges Niang, who were dealt to the Atlanta Hawks in exchange for De'Andre Hunter.
This season, Green has averaged 5.8 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 22 minutes per game for the Pelicans. He’s also been a standout defensively, ranking second on the team in total steals (55) and blocks (30).
With a 44-10 record, the Cavaliers currently lead the Eastern Conference and are looking to strengthen their position as they head toward the playoffs.
