The Los Angeles Lakers have rescinded their trade for Mark Williams after the center failed his physical, according to ESPN's Shams Charania.

However, the issue was not related to his back. The team reportedly had concerns over multiple other health issues.

The Lakers had agreed to send rookie Dalton Knecht, Cam Reddish, and draft considerations to Charlotte in exchange for the 23-year-old Williams, a former first-round pick in his third NBA season.

The deal also included a 2031 first-round pick and a 2030 first-round pick swap going to the Hornets.

Williams has struggled with injuries throughout his career, playing in just 84 of a possible 212 games due to back problems and other ailments.

Despite this, Lakers general manager Rob Pelinka initially had no concerns about the trade.

This season, Williams has averaged 15.6 points and 9.6 rebounds per game over 23 appearances.
