Oklahoma City Thunder star Shai Gilgeous-Alexander weighed in on the shocking trade that sent Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers, drawing from his own early experience in the league.
Reflecting on the business side of basketball, SGA admitted that he learned a tough lesson in his rookie season when he was unexpectedly traded from the Los Angeles Clippers to the Thunder.
"I learned that lesson the hard way in my first year in the NBA. I got traded out of the blue. Didn't see it coming," Gilgeous-Alexander said. "It doesn't surprise me any more than myself getting traded a long time ago. I found out it was a business my first season. And no matter what, that will always stay with you."
With Doncic's departure shocking the league, SGA emphasized the unpredictability of the NBA.
"I always say no matter how untouchable you think you are, you never know. There's always something like this," Thunder star added.
The 26-year-old Oklahoma star this season averages 32.4 points, 5.3 rebounds, 6 assists, 2 steals, and 1.1 blocks per game while shooting 52.8% from the field.
The Thunder are the first seed in the Western Conference with a 38-9 record. Their next game is on Tuesday against the Milwaukee Bucks.
