With the Boston Celtics loss against the Los Angeles Lakers 96-117 on Thursday, the Cavs clinched the best record in the East through games played on Sunday, Feb. 2. 

Atkinson currently has led his team to an amazing 36-7 record so far in the Eastern Conference, which is the league's best at the moment and

An assistant coach from his staff will also serve as a head coach of an NBA All-Star team.

The 2025 NBA All-Star game will be played with a different format. In a mini-tournament, there will be assembled four different teams, and there will be three games played. Three teams will be made up of NBA All-Star selections, and the fourth team will be the champion of the Castrol Rising Stars competition on Friday, Feb. 14.

The other two head coaching spots in the NBA All-Star Game will be filled by Oklahoma City Thunder head coach Mark Daigneault and an assistant coach from his staff.
