EuroLeague veteran Ben Bentil returns to the EuroLeague to finish the season with ASVEL.
LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne were looking for a big man to fill in the gaps in their undermanned front line, as Mbaye Ndiaye has a ruptured cruciate ligament in his right knee, Joffrey Lauvergne is dealing with a calf jnjury and Charles Kahudi is also sidelined.
It seems that the French club has found him in Ben Bentil.
The 29-year- old Ghanaian forward-center, is set to return to France, where he first played with Chalons-Reims in 2017-2018. The deal is valid until the end of the 2024-25 campaign.
Bentil started the 2024-25 season with Hapoel Tel Aviv before transitioning to Napoli Basket. In 11 Italian league games, he averaged 14.9 points (51.3% 2P, 31.0% 3P), 6.3 rebounds, and 1.3 assists in 26 minutes per game.
ASVEL will be Bentil's fourth EuroLeague club in his career, after Panathinaikos, Milan and Red Star Belgrade. On Monday evening, the Naples club made his departure official.
Bentil avraged 6 points and 2.6 rebounds in 15 minutes with Panathinaikos, 5.6 points and 2.7 rebounds in 16 minutes over 23 EuroLeague matches with Milan, and 8.4 points, 3.8 rebounds in 20 minutes and over 30 games with Red Star Belgrade in 2022-2023.
Last season, he played in Japan for the Gunma Crane Thunders.
