Joan Penarroya reacted to Ergin Ataman complaining about the referees after the 82-73 win against Panathinaikos

Penarroya answered to his comments by praising his team's performance and saying that the referees did not influence the result.

"I don't know what game he was watching. He plays his role in the press room. It was a EuroLeague game, a tough match, where the referees had no influence. We were the better team and deserved to win," he summarized in the post-game press conference.

The following day after the game, Ataman posted a story on Instagram claiming, "I never make statements without reason."

After the game, Ataman was mad and blamed the referees for allowing extreme levels of contact in the game.

"It's the first time I've seen something like that. We signed up to play basketball. We're a very good basketball team. If we play rugby or American football in this EuroLeague, with these referees, on the road, of course, it will be very difficult to win any games," stated Ataman after the game.

It was Barcelona's 13th straight win against Panathinaikos at home. After this game, they are only one game behind Panathinaikos with a 12-9 record.
