Former NBA guard Raul Neto returns to Brazil, where he'll play for EC Pinheiros after agreeing to a 1-year deal.
After 13 years abroad, Raul Neto is returning to play in his homeland.
The Brazilian club EC Pinheiros announced that Neto agreed to a 1-year deal until the end of the 2024-25 season.
According to BasketNews sources, the deal includes an opt-out clause that would allow Neto to sign with the NBA and EuroLeague teams at any point in the season.
The 32-year-old Neto began his professional career in 2008 with Minas Tenis Clube. After a few years in Spain, he played for 8 years in the NBA, representing the Utah Jazz, Philadelphia 76ers, Washington Wizards, and Cleveland Cavaliers.
Before the 2023-24 campaign, Neto signed with Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul but didn't make a single appearance for the club due to a rupture of the patellar tendon in his right knee.
Neto represented Brazil in the 2024 Paris Olympics, averaging 4.0 points, 1.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 7.0 EFF in two appearances.
He also played in one game during the FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament but made only one appearance after a left thigh strain.
In the 2022-23 season, Neto played 11 minutes per game with the Cavs, averaging 3.3 points, 1.0 rebounds, and 1.6 assists.
His best NBA season came during the 2020-21 campaign with the Washington Wizards, where he put up 8.7 points, 2.4 rebounds, and 2.3 assists per game.
Throughout his 8-year NBA career, Neto participated in 435 games, maintaining an average of 5.7 points, 1.5 rebounds, and 2.1 assists.
