Duane Washington is in Spain to support Partizan teammates in the game against Real Madrid. He is expected to fully join the squad next week.
Due to unusual circumstances, Duane Washington Jr. could not start the EuroLeague season with Partizan Mozzart Bet Belgrade. He is set to fully return in the upcoming days.
Partizan Mozzart Bet Belgrade / Schedule
According to Bojan Brezovac from Mozzart Sport, the 24-year-old guard is already in Madrid, Spain, to support his teammates after a brief stint in the United States.
Washington flew back to Europe quickly after the news of him getting waived by the Charlotte Hornets was made official. He arrived in Spain on Thursday and will participate in Partizan's practice, Brezovac notes. He will also support his teammates in the game against Real Madrid.
Technically, Washington is not a Partizan player as the paperwork hasn't been fully settled after he was traded in the NBA after signing with the Serbian club due to an unusual scenario.
Washington was involved in the Karl-Anthony Towns trade as a piece to balance the financials. As part of the elaborate process, he was sent from the New York Knicks to the Minnesota Timberwolves, who later traded him to Charlotte. Washington played several preseason games for the Hornets before getting released.
Partizan received a buyout for participating in the process, as Washington's contract had to be settled before the NBA actions could proceed.
The Partizan guard might make his EuroLeague debut as soon as October 15th in the first club's home game in the competition against FC Bayern Munich.
