Karl-Anthony Towns’ relationship with Tom Thibodeau, whom he previously played for in Minnesota, will definitely quicken his adjustment phase with the Knicks.

Many expect that there will be an adjustment period for both sides before things run smoothly in the Big Apple, but Towns believes the history he has with Knicks coach Tom Thibodeau will speed up the transition phase.
Towns and Thibodeau were together with the Minnesota Timberwolves for two and a half years, from 2016 to 2019.
"I think it gives us a little bit of a head start," Towns said about Thibodeau. "I know the offense he likes to run. I know the way he likes to play defense and what he expects from his players."
The defensive-minded Thibodeauu said he is looking forward to utilizing Towns, who is a lot more seasoned than the last time he coached him.
"He's gotten a lot more experience. He's now been deep in the playoffs and knows what that's like," Thibodeau said.
"As much as you try to prepare for something like that, until you go through it, you don't fully understand what that is. His understanding is so much further along now than in his second year in the league. And his skill set is so unique that it fits well with everybody."
The Knicks open their preseason slate on Oct. 6 against the Charlotte Hornets.
