Four different teams were true newcomers in the modern EuroLeague, and their results were mostly similar. There was one glaring exception, but one trend remained common.

Despite being established just six years ago, Paris Basketball managed to win the EuroCup and advance to the EuroLeague. On Friday, October 4, the French organization will compete in its first-ever EuroLeague game.

Paris Basketball will be the true newcomer - a team without any prior EuroLeague experience in any kind of format.

Since the introduction of the new EuroLeague format, where all teams play against each other twice during the season, there were only four teams in the competition that were true newcomers.

You could count teams like Virtus Segafredo Bologna and FC Bayern Munich, who competed in the EuroLeague only in the latter seasons of the modern EuroLeague, but they had already played in the top European competition before, with Virtus even winning the trophy in 2001 under the legendary name of Kinder Bologna.

Paris Basketball kept the team's core while signing a couple of names with prior EuroLeague experience.

However, head coach Tuomas Iisalo, who architected the offense that broke scoring records in the EuroCup, left the organization for an opportunity to work in the NBA.

Tiago Splitter was hired as his replacement, and he will lead the debutant squad to EuroLeague glory.
