Real Madrid are keeping an eye on Dylan Osetkowski in case the American forward becomes eligible to play in the next few weeks.
Real Madrid are keeping an eye on Dylan Osetkowski's situation, according to Radio MARCA Malaga. Last year's EuroLeague finalists are looking for a substitute for Guerschon Yabusele after the Frenchman left for the NBA and the Philadelphia 76ers.
If nothing that comes out of the US market in the coming days, Madrid appear to be very keen on the possibility of signing Osetkowski, a player who could cover both positions (4 and 5) inside the paint, and also score from the perimeter.
Last summer, the American forward's transfer from Unicaja to Barcelona was put on hold and eventually fell through, with reports from Serbia suggesting that he tested positive for marijuana in the closing rounds of the ACB season. Barca was set to pay €800,000 for the player’s transfer.
However, Unicaja’s sports director Juanma Rodriguez remained silent on the matter, stating only that Osetkowski has a contract with the club and that "things can happen" in the future. Barcelona has not made any official statements on the matter, with Juan Carlos Navarro, the club’s director, denying that they have contacted Unicaja to pay Osetkowski’s release clause.
Now, Madrid are waiting for the sanction that will be imposed on the California-born forward. Per Radio MARCA, in case Osetkowski receives a ban with a duration of more than two months, his transfer is unlikely to happen.
Osetkowski, 28, averaged 11.8 points and 4.0 rebounds in the ACB and 10,4 points, 4.4 rebounds in BCL action with Unicaja last season.
