AS Monaco general manager Oleksiy Yefimov revealed that the club is doing everything in its power to acquire the EuroLeague A licence.

"We are also working hard behind the scenes to achieve our goal of getting an A license. I really hope you will see the result of it soon," Yefimov said via Basket Europe.

Since making its debut in the 2021-22 season, Monaco reached the EuroLeague playoff berth in every season. Yefimov discussed how such results changed the club's goals.

"You say no one can imagine Monaco in the EuroCup, but let's look at it the other way around: all of European basketball finds it hard to believe we only joined the EuroLeague three years ago," Yefimov noted. "We have invested a lot. Even qualifying for the playoffs is now seen as a minimum goal and not a success in itself. I see it as recognition."

Finally, Yefimov also provided an injury update on Mike James, who underwent a minor back surgery in the summer.

"Mike is expected to arrive at the training camp around the second week of September. This summer, he needed a minor back surgery, which should help him put an end to the problems that bothered him during last season's playoffs," Yefimov concluded.
