After Dusko Ivanovic's fourth stint as their head coach, Basque team will now be lead by club legend Pablo Laso, returning back home for his first managerial season in Baskonia.
Tadas Sedekerskis talked to Noticia de Alava, starting with overall thoughts about upcoming preparations in pre-season.
"I see young people eager to work and a lot of people who want to prove themselves. We are a young team with many familiar faces from last year."
"The continuity of our most important players, Markus Howard and Chima Moneke, is going to help us a lot in this regard; they are going to be even better than last season."
"Then, our new coach, Pablo Laso, knows the ACB, the EuroLeague, the city, and what the people want very well, so we are all very excited,” Sedekerskis said.
Sedekerskis kept talking about his new head coach.
“I was very surprised by Laso’s signing. I was in Puerto Rico, and when I woke up, there was a big time difference. My father told me to read the news. It was like a shock; I wasn’t expecting it."
"There were a lot of names and rumors, but I never imagined it would be him. Every player would like to be coached by Pablo because of all the trophies he has won and everything he has achieved with Real Madrid.”
Sedekerskis also gave his impression about Lithuania's participation in Olympic Tournament Qualifiers:
“For a country like Lithuania, where basketball is a second religion, not being at the Games for eight years is a very serious thing. I have tried to forget this as soon as possible."
"It hurts because the Games are held every four years. Maybe my first Olympics will be when I am 30. We all have to improve and make sure this doesn’t happen again,” Tadas Sedekerskis concluded.
