Jayson Tatum's father, Justin, called BS on Steve Kerr's words about his son not playing in the Paris Olympics being a math problem.
Jayson Tatum has been benched for two Team USA games in the 2024 Paris Olympic Games despite being healthy. His father pushed back against head coach Steve Kerr's reasoning for it.
Team USA barely managed to win against Serbia in the semifinal. During the game, the Serbs were up by as many as 17 points, and some fans and media members began writing on social media, wondering whether Tatum could help the team, knowing his accolades.
"It's not about anything Jayson is doing or not doing. It's just about combinations and the way that group has played together, the way Kevin [Durant] has filled in since he came back from his injury. It's just a math problem more than anything," Kerr said after the match via AP's Tim Reynolds.
Tatum's father, Justin, did not agree with this notion, posting a reply on X, formerly Twitter.
"Man please. Miss me with that BS!!" he wrote.
Both Tatum and Tyrese Haliburton have been benched in two Team USA games in the Paris Olympics. It is the first time since 1992 that two separate US players miss at least two games. In 1992, John Stockton and Magic Johnson missed numerous games, but the absence was due to injury.
