The playoffs begin with a game between two European powerhouses: reigning world champions Germany and Greece, led by NBA superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo. This first quarterfinal match tips off at 11:00 CEST at the Bercy Arena in Paris.
Germany has shown dominant form, qualifying for the Olympic playoffs as one of the top two teams in the tournament. They won all three of their games by double-digit margins, defeating Japan (97-77), Brazil (86-73), and host France (85-71).
Greece had a more challenging path, losing their first two games against Canada (79-86) and Spain (77-84). However, they bounced back with a win against Australia (77-71) and received a favorable result from the Serbia-South Sudan game, allowing them to qualify as one of the two best third-placed teams in the groups.

These two teams last faced off in the FIBA EuroBasket 2022 quarterfinals, where Germany emerged victorious with a 107-96 win.
In that game, Germany excelled from beyond the arc, making 17 of 31 three-point attempts. Giannis scored 31 points that night, but it was Dennis Schroder who stole the show with 26 points and 8 assists.
