The Japan national team (0-3) suffered its 3rd loss and finished its Paris Olympic basketball tournament campaign.

In the last Group B game, Japan lost 84-102 (20-31, 24-24, 29-22, 11-25) to Brazil (1-2), which still has a chance of reaching the Olympics basketball playoffs. However, for that, Brazil will need favorable results from the other games.

Despite trailing by double-digits multiple times, Japan didn't give up and came back into the game in 4th quarter.

After Josh Hawkinson's 3-pointer at the beginning of the 4th, Japan had only a 1-point deficit (79-80).

However, Brazil made a decisive push in the middle of the quarter. Vitor Benite and Bruno Caboclo made two 3-pointers, increasing Brazil's lead to 88-80 with 5:38 to go.

Soon after, Marcelinho Huertas scored 5 points in a row, putting the game to bed (93-82).

Bruno Caboclo led the way for Brazil, finishing a dominant performance with 33 points (13/19 FG, 4/4 3PT, 3/4 FT), 17 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 block, and 43 EFF in 30 minutes of action.

Josh Hawkinson was unstoppable for Japan, accumulating 26 points (8/13 FG, 5/6 3PT, 5/6 FT), 10 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 blocks, and 32 EFF in 36 minutes.

Japan: Josh Hawkinson 26 (8/13 FG, 5/6 3PT, 10 REB, 32 EFF), Yuki Kawamura 21 (7/19 FG, 4/9 3PT, 10 AST), Yuta Watanabe 14 (6/17 FG, 2/8 3PT, 9 REB), Yudai Baba 11.
