Since 1992, when the NBA allowed its players to participate in the Olympics, Team USA has chosen to stay outside the Olympic Village.

The 2024 Paris Olympics are no exception. According to Justin Birnbau from Forbes, USA Basketball rented out the entire hotel in the city center, which has roughly 800 rooms.

As Forbes notes, Team USA has a large traveling party that includes players' families, support staff members, executives, and NBA personnel.

However, such perks come at a cost. Forbes estimates that USA Basketball had to spend $15 million to send men's and women's basketball teams to the Paris Olympics.

For comparison, sending 20 US fencers to the Paris Olympics costs between $300,000 and $400,000.

However, Team USA's expenses include much more than a fancy hotel. USA Basketball also had to cover security, charter flights, players' transportation to practices and games, and shipment of team equipment to Paris.
