Jaleen Smith was released by Partizan after spending the second part of the 2023-24 season with the Serbian side. The American-born guard has joined Bahcesehir in Turkey.
Jaleen Smith has left Partizan Mozzart Bet Belgrade and joined Bahtcesehir. The American-born guard, who has been playing with the Croatian NT since 2022, was announced by his new club.
Partizan and Smith were in negotiations regarding the continuation of cooperation for next season. Even though the player repeatedly expressed his desire to stay, the two sides did not come to an agreement.
In an interview with Nikola Stojkovic of Mozzart Sport in early June, Smith confirmed that negotiations between his side and Partizan about a contract extension were ongoing and both parties are keen to continue their partnership.
"I have no idea," Smith told BasketNews when asked about his contractual situation during the recent OQT in Piraeus.
"We had some talks, but there's nothing concrete. We were talking, but it went silent. I would love to stay with Partizan. It's not that they didn't want me or I didn't want to stay. But I have no idea what the club's decision is going to be. I'm just waiting," he stressed.
His next stop is Turkish side Bahcesehir, where he will be coached by former Crvena Zvezda and Panathinaikos play-caller Dejan Radonjic.
