"No, I won't be there," he told TODAY's Craig Melvin. "I'm getting the hell out of that city when the Olympics come to Los Angeles. All right, I'll live there all year. I will not be in Los Angeles in '28. I'm getting out of there."
At 39, James is already the all-time oldest player to suit up for Team USA.
Paris will mark his fourth Olympic appearance. He previously played for the United States in 2004, 2008, and 2012, winning gold medals in 2008 and 2012 and a bronze in 2004.
Team USA is placed in Group C of the Paris Olympic Basketball Tournament alongside Serbia, Puerto Rico, and South Sudan.
LeBron, a four-time NBA MVP, recently signed a two-year, $101.4 million contract with the Lakers. His deal includes a player option for the 2025-26 season.
