After spending his first four NBA seasons with the New Orleans Pelicans, Hayes joined the Lakers last summer in free agency.

During the past season, the 24-year-old averaged 4.3 points and 3.0 rebounds across 70 games, starting 5 times, and playing an average of 12.5 minutes per game.

Hayes was originally selected eighth overall in the 2019 NBA draft by the Atlanta Hawks.

However, he was traded, along with Nickeil Alexander-Walker, Didi Louzada, and a heavily protected 2020 first-round pick, to the Pelicans in exchange for De'Andre Hunter and Solomon Hill's draft rights.
