Lassi Tuovi left his assistant coach position at Virtus Bologna to become the head coach in Japan, per BasketNews sources.

The 37-year-old Finnish national team head coach, Lassi Tuovi, is expected to take over the helm of Yokohama B-Corsairs, sources tell BasketNews.

Yokohama concluded the top Japanese basketball division last season with 24 victories and 36 losses. The team was led by Yuki Kawamura (20.9 PPG, 8.0 APG), Jarrod Uthoff (13.1 PPG, 7.5 RPG), and Filipino basketball star Kai Sotto (12.8 PPG, 6.4 RPG).

He has been the head coach of the Finland national team since 2022, leading them to a 7th-place finish in the 2022 EuroBasket and advancing to the 2023 FIBA World Cup.

His previous head coaching experience includes SIG Strasbourg (2020-22).

Tuovi has already bid farewell to Virtus Bologna, where he spent the 2023-24 season as an assistant coach.
