Josh Maravich, the son of NBA legend "Pistol" Pete Maravich, died at his home in Covington, Louisiana on Friday.
He was 42.
LSU made the official announcement but did not reveal the cause of his death. Maravich played for the Tigers from 2001 to 2005.
"I wanted to come here for my dad to make him proud," Josh Maravich said in a 2005 article in The Daily Reveille.
"I knew I wasn't going to be a star player, but for me being a walk-on was what I always wanted to do."
His dad, Pete, also played for LSU and was the NCAA's all-time leading scorer.
