Jaleen Smith is in negotiations with Partizan to extend his contract, expressing mutual interest in continuing his tenure with the team, although no agreement has been finalized yet.
Jaleen Smith's future with Partizan Mozzart Bet Belgrade seems promising, despite no official agreement being signed yet. In an interview with Nikola Stojkovic of Mozzart Sport, Smith confirmed that negotiations are ongoing and both parties are keen to continue their partnership.
"I saw that there were speculations that I already signed [an extension], but I can say that nothing is done yet," Smith, whose deal has expired, noted.
"We are currently negotiating," he added. "It's all talk for now, but I'd say the picture will become clearer over the next few weeks. We'll see what happens, but I know they would like to have me back.
"And I'm definitely interested [in coming back], that's why we're negotiating," Smith went on to say. "I would like to finish the job so that I can return to Serbia, to Belgrade. After that, I could only focus on the Olympic Qualifiers [with the Croatian national team]."
Smith joined Partizan in late December, moving from Virtus Segafredo Bologna, where he struggled for playing time. Since then, he's averaged 6.7 points per game in the past EuroLeague regular season under coach Zeljko Obradovic.
