His teammate, Jrue Holiday, responded to the comments of Jason Kidd, the head coach of the Dallas Mavericks, saying that Brown is the best player of the Celtics.

"I don't think he is lying. I think JB has been aggressive in every single way," said Holiday. "He's been getting to the paint, to the free throw line. Also, making plays for other people. And then, he's guarding Luka [Doncic], the best player."

"I been on teams where, not just any team. Where does your best player have such a heavy load on the offensive end and then just as equally heavy a role on the defensive end?" asked Holiday. "That's hard to do, especially against a guy like Luka."

Jaylen Brown had 22 points (7/12 FG), 6 rebounds, 2 assists (2 TO), 3 steals, 3 blocks, and a plus-minus statistic of +12 in the 107-89 Game 1 win against the Mavericks.

The Celtics lead the series 1-0. Game 2 is on May 10.
