Oklahoma City Thunder have waived Aleksej Pokusevski after drafting him with the No. 17 pick in the 2020 NBA Draft.
Oklahoma City Thunder are waiving Aleksej Pokusevski, Shams Charania from The Athletic reports.
The 22-year-old will become a free agent and will be able to sign with any other NBA team after clearing waivers. So far, there are no reports of whether any other NBA team is interested in a Serbian forward.
Pokusevski was drafted with the No. 17 pick in the 2020 NBA Draft and was seen as another key Thunder prospect.
However, his NBA career was riddled with injuries. In September, he suffered an ankle injury but recovered in time for the regular season opener against the Chicago Bulls.
Nevertheless, Pokusevski played in only 10 games this season, averaging 1.2 points, 1.0 rebound, and 0.5 assists.
Across the previous season, Pokusevski missed three months of action because of a tibial plateau fracture in his left leg.
In the 2022-23 campaign, Pokusevski played in 34 games and averaged 8.1 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 1.9 assists per game.
The 2023-24 campaign was the final season of his rookie contract, meaning he doesn't have a guaranteed NBA contract for the upcoming season.
Before moving to the NBA, Pokusevski spent two seasons in the EuroLeague with Olympiacos Piraeus.
