Brooklyn Nets have dismissed head coach Jacque Vaughn mid-season after a 21-33 record.
Brooklyn Nets have parted ways with coach Jacque Vaughn on Monday morning, as reported by Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN. He is the second coach fired this season after the Milwaukee Bucks dismissed Adrian Griffin.
This season, Vaughn led the Nets to a 21-33 record, placing them 11th in the Eastern Conference standings, three wins shy of the Play-In, with the Atlanta Hawks at the 10th spot.
After the Nets and Steve Nash separated ways on November 1, 2022, Vaughn, 49, took over as the interim head coach. On November 9, he was officially named the head coach, and on February 21, 2023, the Nets extended his contract.
Vaughn had been with the Nets since 2016, initially serving as an assistant coach.
His NBA playing career spanned from 1997 to 2009, featuring stints with the Nets, Utah Jazz, Atlanta Hawks, Orlando Magic, and San Antonio Spurs. Vaughn secured an NBA championship as a player in 2007.
